Abilities Tennis Association of NC creates opportunities for people with Intellectual Disabilities to play and compete in tennis. Whether they can barely hold a racket in their hand or are playing at a high level, we want them out on the tennis courts. The athletes are the stars of the day and they love it.
We continue to work with Community Tennis Associations, Parks and Recreation Departments, Public School PE teachers, Special Ed teachers and the PEPI (PE Pupil Instruction) program to bring adaptive tennis to special needs classes. We have had wonderful success and are hoping many of these students will continue the game of tennis at clinics and tournaments in their area.
