The new year brought many exciting changes…

New Year

New Name – Abilities Tennis Association of NC

New clinics – Chapel-Hill, Cornelius PARC and Huntersville PARC

New events – Abilities Tennis Day at NC State University

New PEAT schools – we are looking at bringing PE Abilities Tennis to over 10 new schools in 2014

Cornelius PARC and Huntersville PARC Abilities Tennis

Abilities Tennis

Cornelius PARC and Huntersville Parks & Recreation

Participants will have an individual volunteer to engage them in tennis-related activities to learn tennis skills. Volunteers will work 1:1 with youth creating a safe, welcoming, fun environment. Coaches will encourage participants to hone their skills while learning the rules of the game and interacting with peers. Our goal is to provide each child with a strong core belief in his/her ability to overcome everyday challenges without frustration.

The Abilities Tennis Association of NC will hold a kick-off event for us on Sunday, March 16: Volunteer Training from 1:00-3:00 pm and a Family Carnival from 3:00-5:00 pm (for registered families).

Although this is a free program, Registration is required

Resident registration opens Monday, January 20th

Charlotte Challenge Tournament

Athletes of all ages are invited to participate in this friendly 4th Annual tennis competition at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants will compete in one of three ability levels: Skills, Short Court, and Match Play.  Lunch will be provided for all athletes and coaches. This event is being hosted by Abilities Tennis Association, Charlotte Tennis Association and Charlotte Special Olympics tennis program.  Cost is free.
